You can board on Lake Mead, which is about 30 minutes away (I'm guessing about that but it's not too far). It'll be winter but Las Vegas is in the desert so you could have nice warm weather, or it could be cold and windy. The water will be chilly though. So I'd guess you'll have temps about 22C for the air and water around 14C. If you get lucky the air could be 28C and water 16C.

Lake Mead is HUGE so conditions will depend on where you go and how windy it is. If it gets windy that lake can be as bad as the ocean. There are several people from the Las Vegas area that post here, so you may want to start posting in the Find a 3rd thread in November or early December and hopefully someone will hook you up.

If you're going to be there for a while you could also do a snowboard trip since Las Vegas is only about 5 hours from Mammoth which is a great mountain and usually has plenty of snow by Christmas. Lots of Aussies come over to Mammoth and Lake Tahoe to work at the ski resorts during their summer break from Uni.

Whoa, I just relalized. In Austrailia, Christmas is in the middle of the summer! Thats so cool!

Ya, up here Christmas is cold, I live in Phoenix, and the temperature is usualy around 60-65. I've boarded once here in the winter, I don't care if we're in the middle of the biggest desert in the western hemispheir, but damn it cold! But if you got a wet suit of some kind it might not be too bad.
