for 200 bucks do these sound as good as the iPod and earbuds? I bought a Mp3 player from Oregon Scientific and it was terrible. Could not hear it at all on the loudest setting.

I have never used to ipod and earbuds but the liquid tunes is sick because it is WAY lighter than the ipod and it sounds fine once you get the earbuds fit to your ear. Owe ya if you are concerned about volume, no need to worry it gets loud

it doesn't sound like a 10,000 dollar system in a boat does but it is definitely enough to make your session better.

Based on personal experience and reviews of others, I've found that waterproofing headsets comes at the cost of substantial loss of sound quality.

The good news for us is that wakeboarding is not a sport where you're concerned about sound quality when submerged, therefore waterproof headsets are not necessary. A number of manufactures make $10-$20 water resistant headsets, which don't suffer from the same loss of sound quality as the waterproof ones.

Here are some: http://reviews.cnet.com/4566-6450_7-0.html?filter=500909_5007939_

I've tried most on this list and my favorite are the Sony MDR-G57G. As an over-the-ear headset, it doesn't get water logged and also blocks some of the wind noise (although to really cut down on the latter, a beanie helps a lot).

As far as which player, I use the iPod Mini + H2O case, never tried any of the LF Tunes, but other have and like it, here's a review too:

If you want a high quality alternative that makes use of your existing iPod, we recently added H20 Audio for that very purpose. We like it because you don't have to manage another library of music, and it sounds awesome.

Just another idea.

Ok, so the Otter Box is about the same as the H2O case? I love the ipod ear buds, I wish they were water resistant
