Surfdad: Nice pix. Your 7/27 pics look like you have Starboard locker open--is that to fit more ballast? We are making progress-I'm up to about 9 seconds free riding. My son about 20 secs. We're on the edge of feeling it, just can't yet keep it going. I bought (2) 540# bags, but since we have both goofy and reg, I put one in each locker of the 24ve then move the people around. We had a small crew yesterday so ok results, not great. THis upcocming weekend we'll have a load of 8 people so should be better. We're also going to borrow a friends CWB Ride 5'3" board to try it out since we'll be bringing newbies. Our 5" Razr is fast, but touchy for a 200# guy like me. I'll post pix of our (fingers crossed here) successful surfing session.

I've got my fingers crossed for you Murphini! Good eye, 'bro. Yes, we've added a 250 pound(approximate) fat buddy on top of the custom sack on the darkside. My buddy Dennis is goofy AND he rides the darkside. Dennis is also a primary component of out ballast system we always force him to ride in the rear corner. However, when he is riding we lose his 250 pounds. Trying to make the darskide wake better - because THAT's the kind of friend I am - always sacrificing for my darkside riding crew (was that thick enough or should I add more guilt inducing text? ) when Dennis is riding we starting throwing that fat buddy on top. It's not full, so maybe we are adding about 100-150 pounds of ballast. In my experience with the Tige, you really don't want any weight on the opposite side when surfing. Keep us posted on your progess, please!

How about this: Start with both sacs empty, fill port first (540#) leave starboard empty, surf. Then when switching to goofy riders, drain port bag into the starbord.... In your opinion, would 500# on surfing side be better than 500# on each side...

Hey Murphini, I haven't personally weighted a 24Ve,but my preference is to use as little weight as possible. In all of my experiences with Tige's they don't like bow weight nor opposite side weight. When I have weighted, and tried weight on both sides, it dropped the height AND didn't help with the length of the pocket, so it seemed to only achieve diminished gas "mileage". Here is a picture of a 22Ve that we surfed at the West Coast Tige Owners Reunion. No bow weight, no opposite side weight.

Kyle, what's up man...it's been a while! Nice pics. Looks like Sammamish, I'm out on Lake WA every warm night (and living in Seattle again...). We need to hook up on the water. Drop me an email if interested... Hope all is well.

Some great pics. Some of the waves you guys have are awesome. So clean, makes me want to catch a ride with some of you! My brother took some pretty killer shots of me last week, I'll try to get them up when he shares them with me. Maybe this weekend!

I've only been on it a few times, and fishing.... before I surfed. (lol) I used to live in Gilbert out there, so you kinda know what all the local lakes look like. That's a nice wave you guys have, I'll have to try and catch a ride next time I'm down there!
