I have a couple family trips to plan for the summer. I'll be motorhoming it with only my wife and two boys (and the CC). Is Shasta or Powell worth going to if we're not on a houseboat? I'm near Palm Springs, so they're both a good drive. I'd hate to put all that gas in the RV if I could put it in the boat and have a good time somewhere else.
Ray, Shasta is well worth the drive. Beautiful lake and it is full this year. Clean clear water and the temps are very comfortable. We go there every year for a week. You should however get reservations before you go. Have a great time....
LOL Buzz, it gets better every day my friend. This chick is so Hot if she cant go to Shasta I will just stay here with her and let you guys go without me!!!!!!!!! he he he kidding
Powell is my favorite lake of all time, but much better with a house boat. You dont live too far from me, if you want to go to a decent lake without a houseboat and dont want to drive too far go to Lake Mead, and then you can run into vegas is the water is not so good
Powell is an awesome lake but it is best if you have a housebaot since the lake is over 150 miles long. To truly experience the lake you should rent a houseboat and travel to verious locations throughout your trip. Shasta is a great lake as well and is much more accesible in a RV so I would chose Shasta in your particular case for sure.
Ray, we did Powell for three years, two weeks duration each time, it was GREAT (we did not want a Houseboat, too costly to rent for a 2 week period) Good campgrounds with hook ups, it is well worth it.............
