I have a new Sanger V215 with wakeboard package. Not a lot of experience with yet but the wake on one side has a lot of whitewash in it while the other side is nice and tight. The whitewash is typically on the left (if facing forward). Have moved people around in the boat to redistribute the weight but it still does it. The dealer says I need to keep adjusting the weight and the whitewash is on the left due to the prop rotation. Everything on the boat checks out – the tanks (3) all fill up, everything is all aligned,... Anyone have a similar experience or have any other ideas?

I always get wash on the right side(facing forward) on my MC mostly because there is less weight with only the driver on that side. If I move weight to that side 200-400lbs it goes away and maybe curls over when a boarder is cutting out on the opposite sides. So try having a little more weight on that side.

Which ever side has the whitewash is the side that you need to put more weight on. Keep destributing more weight to that side until it clears up.

Note, most boats will whitewash on the side opposite of a hard-pulling wakeboarder as well. This is OK. :-)

My firend's 215 has the same deal: wake's a little washy on the left side of the boat. With one passenger on the left side while I was driving, if I just got out of the driver's seat and stood on the left side it was enough to clean it up. So, at least in his boat, about 300 pounds on the left side of the boat fixed it. PS he's just got the one ballast bag in the middle. Not sure if it was filled or not at the time.

Steve, I've been in the boat for about 35 of the 40 hours on my buddy's 215, and we have not experienced this problem. Sounds like you have a weighting issue.

Question: does your boat have the Sanger logo embroidered on the observer's seat?

The reason I ask is the first versions of these 215's (only a few of them) had a strake that was in the wrong position causing a bit of wash, but they adjusted it and now the 215 is nothing but wake bliss.

Also check your wake plate to make sure it is evenly adjusted.

Steve, I'm thinking about ordering a new V215. What seems to be a fair price? I've been quoted just under $50K out the door with trailer, wake package and Perfect Pass. I'm in So. Cal. and hear that prices down here are kicked up a notch.

Old    chavezychavez            08-23-2004, 3:48 PM Reply
Robert - that seems a bit high. Should be 45ish with just about every option...

Ralph - good call.

Chavez-If I subtract the sales tax then I'm looking at $46K. Add the tax, registration, and Tire Tax??? and I'm at $49.5K.

Robert: Hmm... buddy paid 46 OTD with wake package, reverse gel (flames), black scorp, stereo, custom strapless bimini, walk thru block out plate, custom cover, racks, tandem trlr (fully boxed) w/brakes, but no PP. I believe the only "factory" options missed were the heater, shower and PP.

Factor out the Black Scorp (3K option!) and factor in the PP: the number I come up with is more like 44 OTD. You may want to kick a little A down at the dealership and negotiate downward.

50k is a lot more than I have seen them advertised for, they are on boattrader from 40-45

Chavez, thanks for the numbers check. But was this a showroom boat or did he order it? I'm also thinking about the flame graphic. Did he go with the ghost flames or solid color? I haven't seen a good picture of how the flames would look. If you have one to post I'd like to check it out. I'm also talking about the 2005's, so maybe Sanger has bumped it up since this was the best selling boat for them in '04.

Showroom boat - but came pretty much how he would have ordered it.

I'm not a massive fan of the flames myself, I prefer the solid colour but I have seen a few I like.
Here are some photos:
Ghost flames are pretty light

Mine is a 2004 v215 (last one the dealer had). Out the door(tax & license) with wakeboard package (3 ballest tanks, tower), 315 hp engine, black, no flames, no perfect pass, cd with 4 speakers. $44.4K. The 2005 are probally 6% higher (boat & trailer)

Thanks to all for the wake information. Appears to be weight distribution as the dealer indicated.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Ralph. I'm taking Chavez's recommendation and opening a can of Whup A** on the dealer. So what's a fully boxed trailer? Sounds like a euphemism for a woman's caboose.
Old    chavezychavez            08-24-2004, 8:47 AM Reply
Robert, it is a trailer that has solid (rectangular or square) tubing as opposed to C-channel or angle iron.

Now go down there and bring the whoop A.
Old     (roberto)      Join Date: Aug 2004       08-24-2004, 8:58 AM Reply
Sanger uses V/M Custom Trailers which I'm pretty sure are boxed construction, but I'll check it out. Ka-chush...the can is opened.

Wally--No money has changed hands, just in the negotiating stages. Doing the research, as you put it.

Mine is a C Channel. I have the trailer with the swing out tongue, disc brakes and aluminum wheels.

My V/M Custom Trailer is C Channel too, pull out tounge with drum brakes. Maybe the 215's are on a heavier trailer?
Old     (roberto)      Join Date: Aug 2004       08-24-2004, 4:20 PM Reply
Thanks for all your posts. I'm driving up to Bakersfield to check out a V215. I'll get the lo-down on the trailer, too. Also...surge brakes or electric. Any comments on that subject?
Old    chavezychavez            08-24-2004, 4:37 PM Reply
Surge has worked fine in my bud's case - up and down hills etc etc. Work on swing away tongue if you can they are quite convienent!

He tows with a lifted 95 Tahoe...

Ralph - could be, but I can swear I have seen one on a C-channel trailer. Nothing really wrong with that, the boxed version is just cleaner (looking).

Again, thanks for the input. My terestrial tow vehicle is a '97 Yukon 4WD. I've got a slip up at Big Bear Lake so I'll be doing the Mountain course with the boat twice a year; up in May and back down in Sept.

I have a V215 and it Rocks. I was out the door with full wakeboard package (tower, front and rear ballasts, perf pass),trailer, tax license etc. for 47K. I've had the boat for 2 1/2 months and already have 70 hrs. on it. You won't go wrong with a 215.
Old     (duramax_dually)      Join Date: Jul 2004       08-25-2004, 7:42 AM Reply
Roberto,
Surge brakes are the best on boat trailers. Electrical items do not fair well under water. I am not sure they even offer electric brakes on boat trailers due to that fact.

Structurally speaking, box tube is stronger however I think C Channel is better as you will not trap water in it and it offers flexibility when the trailer is put at odd angles. The metal has a memory

I have the swing out tongue and it is a very nice feature. If you want security, I recommend having someone drill out the hole in the pin to accept a lock. They come with a hole to hold the safety pin but some low life thief could swing it around and drop a bolt in it. You do this coupled with locking the ball receiver and it would be quite some work to get your boat or trailer if it happen to be sitting in a lot while out boating. Just an FYI, the pin is hardened so it will take some good drill bits unless you have a friend who owns a machine shop.

Jeff-nice looking V215. Is that Dark Blue or Black w/ grey flames? Where'd you get the hookup?

Roberto,
Are you looking at the pic above my post? That is Mike's Boat. I have a V210. I was commenting on your request about electric Vs Surge brakes. Regardless, it is a nice looking V215

Mark I will be taking pics this weekend as for the 1st trip will be to Lake Melones. After spending all summer talking with different dealerships/salesmen, Rich is the down to earth NO BULL---- person. He gave me such a deal I would be stupid to walk away! being that I am a very successfull NAVY Recruiter for the last 4 years I know sales and Rich would come as highly recommeded as possible.
