You would think that with all of the stereo related threads on this site there would be alot of systems to show off. Let's see some pics and have fun. It's not a competition, it's all about the boom!

John, good thing it is not a competition, no one could compete with the system you got!!!
Mine was done on ebay for less than $600....

Mine certainly isn't "incredible," but I think it'll work. I have yet to hear it on the water.

This photo will show you just how big the passenger compartment is. I told the installer he could have it for subs and amps and he ended up using every inch of it. To access the fourth amp you pull the glove box. It is not as flashy as some systems but it is LOUD really LOUD.

Old     (switch)      Join Date: Oct 2003       11-18-2003, 9:48 AM Reply
I have heard Phaeton's boat and it is extreemly LOUD as well as extra clean!!! I have never heard a boat that loud, and I have heard a lot of boats... The frinkin glove box moves up and down a few inches and the back motor and side compartments almost pop-up. It is like a top fuel funny car running next to you and you whole insides move. Thats what the rush is like with Phaeton's boat!

I just hope my boat will be as loud as his. I will start on it soon.

I'll get around to it. We didn't have a choice on the install. After going to the top 5 shops around, they all said it was impossible what we wanted done. So we did the install ourselves. Wasn't fun, but pretty happy with the results. Didn't get some of the custom stuff I wanted done, but oh well.

Red Rocks! Of course Yellow screams, Blue bumps, and Gray,,, well Gray is just gray. It's sweet to see so much pride in these boats. It does seem that since red is such a strong color, that the people who prefer red are loud people. Or maybe it's just a coincidence. Oh, well. Let's see some more.

Grant,

I just got a 20GB iPod today. That is why I am still awake. I don't have near the system that you have, but I was wondering how I might be able to hook it up to mine. I'm sure you would probably need to know something about my stereo, and I won't be much help in that department, but maybe you could share some basic info.

Anyway, thanks for posting your "bling bling." The scooter is cool too.

How did you connect your MP3 player? I have an FM modulator but am frustrated with the lack of consistency. Please advise!!

I just talked with Grant> he is on the road> but I think I can answer your question> the MP3 player is connected thru the RCA inputs on his EQ. With an eq like the one in Wes's pics> the eclipse Eq> you can run RCA inputs and outputs. So> this enables you to run the signal into your stereo from something like an MP3 player> but also you can send the signal to another boat that is next to you> just with a long RCA cord.
Hope that helps.

hi Sean, I don't know much about it to be honest. i know that it allows me to play the stereo, run the ballast pumps, and open the rear storage automatic latches without everything resetting like it did with the stock alternator! ;-)

I know this is a really stupid question, but did you buy that deck housing for your mp3 palyer aftermarket? I am replacing the stock clarion cd player in my SAN and I think that housing would be a good fit. If you know the details, can you give me more info on it?

Ok wait, the ballast is called "bling"? Ok, slang needs to stand for one thing only! grrrr

I thought they were ballast gauges, but couldn't figure out why it would say that. I thought they were his "bling, bling" meters. HAHA!

They are bling bling meters. What I can't understand is why they are on empty?

I see that the rear Blinger is on empty, but the forward Blinger still has some reserve left.

Perhaps Grant has recalibrated them in anticipation of the Enzo box and LCD screen additions?
Old    whitechocolate            11-20-2003, 4:33 PM Reply
Yes My Bling gauges Need to be "Re Blinged" The truth is I took the gauges apart and made new gauge faces for them that Say Bling Bling and when I put the needles back on I had no refferance to where they whent back. I was just guessing, and as you can See I got one back in the right spot and I was off on the other. I didn't want to take it back apart to re adjust them. When all the other projects are finished this winter I will re-adjust them Ha LOL. It's funny
In all the times I have posted Photos of the I-PoD people keep asking what are thoes Bling Bling gauges???? And How do I hook up A I pod to my CD deck???? There s photo's Of everything on www.svtsupercharged.com/gallery

Hey Grant, how much does "Bling" weigh? I was just curious if 50 gallons of "Bling" weighed more than 50 gallons of water. If so you could get rich selling "Bling Ballast". Just think, you could sell Bling Sacks, Bling Tanks and Bling Seats. j/k. If anybody's got "Bling Bling" it's you G.

Phaeton thanks for the info. I decided to make my own fiberglass housing for my new deck. Eventually I will finish it all and get some pictures here. I just added a JL 500/5 to power my boat speakers and a JL sub and a 300/2 for the tower speakers. I'm just finishing the speaker box on that too. With the change of the season I may actually get a chance to finish these projects.

Hey sorry to sound like an idiot.. but i am just building a system for my boat.. and i am not to concerned about looking cool, but i want to be able to "hear" good clean tunes when I am riding.
Are most of these sytems set up for lisening while riding, or while sitting in your boat??

I know mine is set up for in the boat, at rope length and anywhere else on the lake.

Both for me.
Old    whitechocolate            11-21-2003, 10:24 AM Reply
Joel: To answer your question I think My Systen is more set up for the People in the boat, I would say 60% for the boat and 40% for the rider. If You wanted a system set up mostley for the rider I would look at the Compression Diver Horn's Type set up. Most car Audio Speakers are better set up for throwen sound in side a smaller space than on top of a tower of a wakeboard boat, So IMO its hard to have a system that sounds as good behind the boat than in it. You can have compression driver's That Dont sound as good as seprates But your rider will be happy or you can have seprate's that sound great in the boat but arent as good 80 feet back. The way I look at it The needs of the Many out way the need's of the few (Spock from Star Trek) And the few in my case would be the person behind the boat.

When I had any questions, I always posted them here and got very helpful feedback.

You may also want to check out www.malibuboatowners.com. There is a lot of good technical info there.

System on a budget:
Blaupunkt MP41 MP3 Deck
Crunch V-Drive 4300 1200W 4 channel
Crunch V-Drive 4200 800W 4 channel
Pionner TS-A6980R 6" x 9" 4-Way Speaker 350 Watts x2
Pionner TS-A1680R 6&1/2" 4-Way Speaker 220 Watts
Pionner TS-W305C 12" Sub 400W
Pionner TS-W255C 10" Sub 250W x2

All the mid and high's are on the tower, the only speakers in the boat are the 3 subs (drivers feet & rear lockers) I built all the sub boxes out of marine ply and stuffed them with insulation to deaden them down. Sounds very good with this setup, very crisp mids and highs with lots of rumble from the rear subs.
The rear facing speakers and down facing speakers are fadeable from the deck. The install went well but I took my time and had done a lot of the planning before the boat arrived. Got a really good special on some 1 guage power wire which saved me heaps. Got the battery really close to the amps to avoid using caps.

Finished Finally
Box weighs 50 pounds
12 at the feet, MP3 deck
2x Crunch Vdrive + Battery
These fire into the back seats

Looks great Darren! Very clean install. How does the bimini affect the sound inside the boat. Very smart angling the 6 1/2"s on the tower. I wish I had done that.
Old     (ralph)      Join Date: Apr 2002       11-24-2003, 11:51 PM Reply
Thanks John. When the bimini is down the highs aren't quite as crisp but there is still plenty of power, the difference is very slight, I don't think anybody else notices. Yeah, I had a brain wave about angling the speakers which caused me to relearn some old trig, 11º angle is about right for 75 foot line, I also angled the speakers up, its a little hard to tell from the pics but they point up 15º to account for bow rise etc.

How hard is it to wire a battery selector switch and add a battery for my stereo? I'm going to use the perko 8501 switch. What size battery should I use? Should I just match the battery that is already in the boat? I would also like to wire in another voltage guage for the second battery.

Tom, I know I discussed the 1000/1s with you through emails, and the problems you have had with them getting too hot have pushed me in another direction. I am going to run a Zapco C2K 9.0d on my 12w7s. The 4ohm version (which is 3 ohm stable) puts out 2200 watts at 4 ohm, and supposedly it is underrated. With that kind of power, you will never have to push the amp hard to get the max out of a 13W7. It is a Class T amp which should compliment the SQ capabilities of the W7's much better than a Class D amp. It is internally cooled with one fan pushing air into the case and another fan pulling the air out. I have read a lot of people running their 13W7s off of this amp. I am going to run one 2 ohm version of the amp on my 12w7s (it is 1.5 ohm stable). Zapco is one of the most widely used amps in sound quality competitions, but you do pay for it…they aint cheep.

They aint cheap. Retail is aroun $2000 but you will actually pay around $1500-$1600 at most dealers.

That being said, they have a lot of features that arent available on most other amps. They use what they call Symblik technology which balances the imput from your RCA jacks then converts the signal to a fiber optic signal which actually connects to the amp via a telephone type jack, which gaurantees no interference from power cables, etc.

Neat, but not necessary stuff that you pay out the ying yang for...
