Upgrading speakers in Samson cans

Hello,
I bought my boat and the PO had a Samson tower and 2 tower speakers (6.5 with kickers image below). This speakers are fine for in-boat listening but cannot be heard while riding. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on options available to get the music projected back to the rider without replacing the cans.

I've looked into Kicker's HLCD but it looks like the set-up requires 4 cans which I don't have. So any other input would be greatly appreciated.

My buddy put bullet 6.5"s hlcds in them and they sound great. He just left the tweeter in them.
