I think I am having a problem with my trailer brakes. Sometimes when I hit the brakes my trailer starts to bounce. It does not happen all the time, but it is starting to happen more frequently. Saturday when I was going to the river, I heard the trailer tires lock up when trying to stop at a light before it turned red. I got it stopped but will not drive it until I can figure out what the problem is. I am sure I could fix it. I just need to know where to start looking. I have surge brakes on a shore landr trailer. Single axel. Any ideas? Thanks.

With the boat on the trailer? Probably warped discs.

Drum or Disc brakes?

Wow. I can't believe I forgot to mention that. It has drum brakes.

Seems like the brakes are out of adjustment. Drums should have an adjustment on them that you need to back off on. Should be a slot some place and you may need a special tool. Look on the inside bottom of the drum.

You may want to open them up and take a look to see what else might be going on in there. But I am thinking the dust etc is toxic.
