Personally marking a wakeboard

first of let me say Hi to everyone

Ive been riding for about three years up here in the great white north. and i just recently picked up a 04 player 138 and this a a fairly major purchase for me so i want to proctect it.

what i was thinking is engraving my name into it and then spraying a layer (or more) of automotive clearcoat (because i have access to it) over that part of the board...

does any one have any better recomendion on how to do this?

So...is anyone actually gonna answer Blair's question?

Blair- You should be able to get away with doing that if you don't engrave it too deep. It would probably be safer, though, to just spray paint your name onto the board or put some stickers on it so you can differenitate it from other boards. I would hesitate to do any kind of damage to the board.
