I picked up an 03 Landlock off of ebay like this one http://www.wakeworld.com/surf/getboard4.asp?ProductID=1620 for about 10 dollars plus shipping. I haven't been on one of these but have surfed numerous other boards. Just wondering if anybody had any thoughts on modding one of these with different fins, tri-fin setup or any other ideas. It is in pretty good shape but needs a little repair on the tip and tail and doesn't have any fins currently. I have also read that the board nosedives fairly easy so after riding it for some time, I may make some alterations to the board to see if I can alleviate this. I also picked up a Phase 5 Prop, so I am ready for some warm weather.
I tried some bolt thru fins, but really...the overall design isn't conducive to doing much. If I wanted to do a BUNCH of work...I would grind through the exterior glass, carve a light concave in the bottom to give it some lift. Then glass it back up. Then I think I'd use some FCS fin plugs and install a twin fin set up.
The problem, IMO, is that by the time you are done...you still have a mediocore board with a ton of work done to it.
I was hoping you two would chime in as I have enjoyed your posts/projects. It may wind up being my beginner/laid back boat board, I couldn't pass up a 10 dollar eBay steal.
I'm glad that've you've enjoyed our antics. See Ed, I told you it wasn't a total waste!
I'm with you Stephen, at 10 bucks, I'd have snatched that board up too. You can certainly get 100 times that worth of enjoyment just cruising or teaching folks.
