My brother in law has an 05 F250 with steering wheel controls. He wants...

-to control ipod using his steering wheel buttons
-keep the factory deck
-have the connection charge the ipod

any suggestions?

I looked into it because I would not mind changing the deck but I like the controls on the wheel. Only thing I have seen is an aftermarket unit that works with most decks that have an IR remote control. It has a learn feature so he might be able to tweak it, but I think he might not get everthing he wants from the steering wheel.

Check logjamelectronics.com, that's your best bet.

I bought one for my 2007 GM Surburban.

I'm certain they have them out there.... I'll look and see if I can find the manufacturer. Mine was plug and play - Like only a 3 minute install!! Awesome product. Mine displays all info on my touchscreen radio/nav display and all steering controls work too.

I'll let you know what I find..

I have 2 of the three in my excursion. Why keep the factory deck?

I have this in my Audi: http://www.icarkits.com/home.php

While I can use my factory head unit and control my ipod through my steering wheel I had to connect this unit in place of my CD changer. So basically I gave up my CD changer but that didnt really bother me since I still have a single disc in my head unit.

I heard back from logjam and they dont have one, but a group of components that will do half of the job. He wanted to leave the factory deck just to save money.

I have 06 SD Crew and didnt want to change my deck because truck is parked outside(wont fit in garage) So I went this way.
Stock deck so looks like nothing to steal and uses steering wheel controls.
Added Eclipse 5 channel amp under rear seat after removing crappy metal flooring thingy.
Bought JL Audio Stealth 10w3 40/20/40 seat box. Works great, doesnt thump my a-- as much as I thought it would but is terrible to sit on. (what do I care I am always driving anyway)
Then ordered from Crutchfield this:
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=305250&i=469FRD4POD&tp=120

It works great then order a nice mount form these guys:

I would go with what Rick posted. I got the USA spec for my Tahoe, but I didn't see it for the model you are looking for. Uses all the factory controls, love it.

Kevin:
Read it again. I have an 06 F250 Crew 4x4. It DOES work with 05-08 if you have the factory 6 stackers in dash. There is button on the right side of dial called AUX. If you push that, it controls the IPOD. Go back and look again at the tabs on the crutchfield web page it details installation, what buttons you use to control ipod etc... then do vehicle search again under IPOD acessories. Ck it out.

Ahh I looked again and if you type in 2005 it does not show, but if yout type in 06 it says it works with 05-07 if you have the stereo I have. I guess Ford switched some time in that range.
Good luck.
Rick
