I use the rotary pump type that you attach to your drill. Couple it to the quick drain hose on the bottom of the oil pan, start pumping, in a couple minutes it's empty.

Can you get them at local auto parts stores or do you have to order it?

bb12, I just bought one of those. Actually I bought it 2 months ago and they were backordered so I just received it. Damn thing broke the first time and I had to fix it. It wasn't worth the money and didn't work that great. Old addage, you get what you pay for.

I wouldn't want to run my drill for a couple of minutes straight. The beauty of the oil extractors is you pump them a few times and walk away. I have one that is air driven, and it gets used all the time. You will find many uses for them. Not sure if the regular auto parts stores carry them, but some of the better ones stock them. Often tool trucks keep them onboard. Search google under vacuum oil extractor and all kinds e-tailers will come up. Most every professional auto shop has one. Ebay link

Use the one that peter recommended its very easy to use and clean. Just make sure to get the oil hot or it takes forever!

The oil extractor looks like a no brainer to me.
