I am looking for a good combination for my 11 year old boy to move up to. He is about 75 pounds and starting to advance his riding. He has been riding the standard Hyperlite since he was 6 and is pushing for a change.

Thanks!

Does he or you have any boards in mind?

LF Watson 130, maybe or maybe Ronix Vault 128? It all depends on if your son like to get alot of vertical pop or get a lot of distance on his jumps.

We have been looking at the Ronix line. I did not know that the Vault was available in a 128. What experience has everyone had with a kid "growing" in to his board?

I started riding a 134 when i was about 80 and it felt a little bit big because i came from a 124. I recommend you go for a board around 130, give or take a few.

Ither the watson 130 or the small shane. That way you still get the shorter board but since it is a little wider he will be able to grow on it. With the center v bottom they have even if they are a tad big he will be able edge and control them very well, the shane more that the watson. I imagine he will be sprouting on up soon.

until i was about 110 pounds i rode a 125, I remember the frustrations of not being able to find pro models in a smaller size, but give the 130 watson a look.

I would get him a 133 O'brien Player, I have some little guys that i give lessons to rocking one right now, ones 8 and the other is 10 and they seems to be shredding it on that board, this year we are getting a 131 O'brien Cartel for the 8 soon to be 9 year old. With small O'brien Analogs they are definetly the coolest kids on the block!

O'brien also makes a The Vision, Josh Sanders old pro modle in a 121 and 126 size.

Same stats as my son. Try the LF Nemisis 124 with Watson bindings. He will love this setup.

When my son was 10 I forced him to buy a board to grow into. Bought a 133 when he weighed about 80 lbs. We went to a hyperlite demo day and he tried a 124. Couldn't believe how much more control he had, started landing 180's and a tantrum within a few days. Unfortunately that means I've had to buy new equipment almost every year.

i highly suggest the ronix vault 128. a board that not only will help him progress faster, but easier. with its special D shape designe for an easy toeside carve, you're little guy will be doing toeside 9's before you know it, and for a whole package around $450, hell of a deal for the board!

George is spot on. Go with a smaller boards Hyperlite has 2 good boards that fit.
