Haha, yeah, I do. My coach designed it and is trying to get all the pros to use them. He just sent one to Rusty and one to Murray.

I think that is a great design. I dont know if any of you recall like 5 years ago Zane was riding a extended pylon with a sail on it. He swore by that thing!! It makes sense when you look at the physics of it the higher the rope the less resistance. Will how do you like it? Do you notice more hang time?

That thing is crazy high. If my falls hurt like they have so far, I'd hate to feel one from an extra 4 feet higher. Guess I better order one now.

Locks like it would really make the tug the boat all over the place.

My biggest concern other than the fact it looks like crap would be how do you get the rope on it. Then when you are riding and want to change rope length do you have to take it down or climb all the way up. In a typical night on my boat I bet I change rope lengths at least 4-6 time depending on who it out with me. Seems like way more trouble than it would be worth.

there is a 2 foot rope hanging down that attaches to a standard rope, allowing for easy rope change. it makes everything VERY lofty. probably not practical for most boating groups, but i have seen lavelle ride behind it and would like to see some other pros ride it. send it to lyman or vandall! you think they go big now....

It doesn't affect your existing tower at all. Charles, Dean's trying to get one out to Lyman right now.

The leverage it creates has to create a huge strain on the existing tower mounts. It's simple physics, the longer the lever the higher the rotational forces or moment. I would think that even more boats would develop cracks at the tower mounts. (Message edited by bocephus on March 22, 2007)

That seems like a pretty cool idea. The first tower I built was probably close to that tall, looked like a mast on a sail boat. It does pull the boat over pretty well when you cut hard, which can affect the wake. However, it is easier to go higher with a taller tower.

Why do you think towers have gotten shorter in the past few years? Remember the old MC and Nautique towers were really tall. Now you slam your head into a tower speaker every time you stand up. The reason is because of the amount of torque that a taller tower puts on the tower mounts.

There used to be a company that sold a big tower called stiffy tower. It looked like a big sail http://www.wakeworld.com/Galleries/GetImage.asp?GalleryID=9&ImageID=4 It failed.

Wow! that tower is huge. What's the purpose of the sail? Do you think at some point a guy could get so much torque on that thing it could cause the bow of a loaded down boat to dip under water?

I actually like the idea of the stiffy tower more than the fly high one. First off, it attaches to the front of the boat thus taking some strain off of the existing tower. Second the sail follows the rider and uses the wind to keep the boat level when the rider cuts out.

they both attach to the front.

Is the sail supposed to save gas or something? WTF? Nothing Barefoot International / Fly High makes is less than bomb proof...their stuff does not fall apart and has always delivered as promised stiffy needs to lose the sail unless it has some actual benefit?? lets hear from you guys that tried it...what was it like? either one of em

Andy. read Matt Bird's post. Two posts above my last one. It's to keep the boat from tilting when you cut way out. (Message edited by longhornfan on March 23, 2007)

I think it failed due to the fact when you edge out the boat pulls over also changing the wake. The same thing happens to towered boats also but it is amplified with the larger boom. The Stiffy Tower was around since 2002, I haven't seen it since.
