Yea the difference is called money. Hyperlite makes there biolite core heavy so if you want the feel of a light weight board you have to pay an extra $150. Most companies make their boards light to start off with and dont offer different core types. for example, blindside boards are about 6.5lbs, liquid force 6.9lbs, gator 5.5lbs. While hyperlite makes their regular boards like 7.5-8lbs (depending on model). To get a lighter board you have to cough up an extra $150. Just another way to make money. Although it does cost them a lot to produce 2 different core types because of machining balsa vs. foam cores.

biolite core is basically a foam core and a dna core is a wood core and has 4 carbon rods inside the core fo a stiffer flex and feeling, its supposed to be snappier and act quicker, and definetly more expensive.

Beware, DNA boards aren't as strong as biolite boards. I was riding a TFD 136 DNA for a few months earlier this season before it broke on me. Came down from a simple w2w (didn't case the wake at all) and the thing just fell apart underneath me. Once I got in the boat to figure out what happened, all of the inserts had ripped out of the board and were still attached to my binding.

They're lighter yes, but def not as strong.

Thane is right, give it a try and let us know what you think. Ride the DNA a dozen times and then get back on the foam board for comparison. I have been through the Hyperlite factory and the production process is clearly more time consuming and thus more costly.
