Greetings all

I have a Limited budget and looking at some local used boats. Ive owned a bunch - malibu, CC, MC etc... in the past (best was a 94 Nautique - with weight and people an awesome ramp). Learned to wake surf in vegas behind a calabria pro boat (yeah - nice wave - spoiled) but dont have a new boat budget - here are the few Im considering that are in my budget range ~$8-9k:

92 and 94 Ski Ray's - one closed bow, other open bow

92 Ski Brendella open bow

92 Ski Supreme medalist 210 open bow

95 Malibu Response closed bow

85 Nautique 2001 closed bow

Any first hand experience for how good a wake I could build with any of these?

Many thanks in advance!

Many thanks in advance

look for a boat with a deep freeboard. This will allow you to add more weight in the back corner without taking water over the side. Most of the boats you have listed are great ski boats but sit pretty low to the water. The late 80's supra's seem to have much higher sides and would work better.

Supra SunSport homie deepest vee and huge surf wave. Wake is great, boat has high freeboard and lots of storage for hidden sacs in DD!

Again for Supra Sunsport. Best old boat wave out there.

When loaded with too much ballast, the Nautique 2001 has a very nice, but very short wave, both regular and goofy.

I learned to waterski behind a 1977 19' Century Arabian v-drive. That sucker had big wake at 35mph, wonder what it would be like with some ballast? Came with Bennett trim tabs so you can do some shaping.

Maybe?

maybe an older barefoot nautique as well as the Supra Sunsport. There were also some older Malibu sunsetters with a fairly tall freeboard.

You need a Supra saltare. 23 foot boat, huge wake. Same hull as gravity games edition up to 2007.

So the saltare / pirata is the same as the older gg???

the saltaire has a huge really big rampy surf wake. With a lot of weight and surfing being your main priority it would be a good choice

Thanks much for the input - is greatly appreciated!!

Would love to find an older sunsetter or supra (sunsport, pirata etc...) but not so readily available :-)

Locally - Ive found an 89 SN 2001 and an 88 MC Tristar 190 - similar price -

Thought on which one will surf better? Seems they are both surfable based on search on this forum.

Thanks again guys!
