No more waiting at the boat landing anymore. We spent the last few months working on the new boathouse and rail system. Works great, other than having to fold the tower down due to height restrictions on the boathouse.

I've always wanted to have a boat house like that! That is very cool! How much can your lift system be affected by lake levels? Or do the rails go deep enough in the water?

The rails go 50 feet into the water. We added 10 feet to our order incase the lake is low like it is now (12"+) I guess you could always add secions, but would have to get a new longer cable.

Nice setup, now you just need to set it up for remote control. It would be way cool to pull up on the lift, and press a remote too land you right in front of your boathouse :-)

Peter,
I do have it a remote system for it. It look just like a car remote for the door unlock.
I am also going to have water hose right by the door so I can rinse it down and wash it before it goes in

Very Sweet set up. How long does it take to winch it out or put it in the lake?

Jason that is definitely a sweet setup then :-)

Are you using some type of bang line, because that prop looks dang close to your rail car (Is that what they are called?). Something like a plastic covered cable mounted from the bottom of the car to the bow eye with a hook, or even something above the water would work.

Edit: Personally I would plant some grass between those rocks. It would blend right in with the neighbors grass.

It takes a little over a minute from full out to in.
Peter, we are using the yellow straps the go from the front of the carriage, to the back hooks on the transom. The prop is pretty close to the carriage, but when the boat is running you have to remember it is floating above the carriage. I shut off the engine when I get just inside the guide posts and let it float until I get the yellow straps hooked up. Then you hit forward and the straps keep the boat centered side-to-side and front-to-back until the carriage is shallow enough for bunks to hold the hull.
We were planning on planting grass between the rocks when we get the rocks to be spaced closer together. Actully, the grass you are seeing is ours, I was taking pics from our neighbors dock since we are replacing the wheel posts with longer posts.

That's a lot of work. Why not build the garage high enough to house the boat with the tower up?

Thats setup is awesome. Way to not just buy a boring old lift and go above and beyond!

Wow ,you did a great job. We all wish we had a place on a sweet lake like that. That really takes alot of hassel out of going boarding.

Craig,
There is a height restriction of 12 ft. on the peak of any new boathouse, and they cannot have a flat roof. So, unfortantly I can't fit it with the tower up(otherwise I would have built it higher if I could). I am going to make a little cable system on the front of the boathouse that I can use to lower the tower backwards onto a stand I am going to place in the boat. Otherwise I think it's 150lbs or so to try to lower by hand.
