What high definition wake videos are available?

I think Andy Nintzel posted about one a while ago. Are there any others on HD DVD or BluRay disc?

I've got to have both ACLs reconstructed in the next 2 months so I'm looking for some entertainment and motivation to get thru it.

On Comcasts's HD channel (the one that is kinda like HDNet, can't remember the name) they were playing wakeboarding video footage of competitions in HiDef pretty regularly.

There is yet to be any wake video released in full HD.

As of late there have been a few that were shot in HD and then downconverted to SD when put on to DVD.

I shot Updog in HD, however it was not cost effective to release the movie in HD... number one- it is yet to be decided which format will win out (HD DVD or Blu-Ray) and the number of people that will buy a wake title that would have EITHER format is still very low.

Expect more in the future, though.

If you shot in HD then make the DVD trailers available on your website in as HD video downloads (WMV9 or H.264). That would be sweet (and hopefully low cost viral marketing for your DVD).

Does The Truth have some HD sections in it? Even if it doesn't, it is an amazing film.

Rorowake, I thought that blu ray is "true hd" because it can handle 1080p and true HD is filmed 1080p. Regular disks cannot hold 1080p? I'm probably wrong here.

Blu Ray IS 1080P which Sony is calling Full HD 1080. To confuse matters more, actually HD is a variety of formats- 720P, 1080i, and 1080P. Regular SD DVD's can handle 480P and 480i only.

Cost of mass replication of Blu Ray or HD DVD is around 7-9 bucks a disc making it less desirable to low/no budget filmmakers like myself!!!

You have a couple of different options for distribution besides BRD or HD-DVD.

a) Web distribution. You can sell downloads of the video as WMV9 HD direct from your website or possibly through services like CinemaNow.com or XBox Live.

b) Broadcast distribution. Hit up Mark Cuban to find out what HDNet pays for broadcast rights to HD content.

c) D-VHS. Sure, there are maybe only 5,000 players out there. But it has to be cheap to author!

d) DVD-R. Variation on (a). Author your own data DVD with a WMV9 HD file on it, sort of like what they did with Terminator 2: Extreme Edition before HD-DVD was available.
