don't hurt me, i searched - anchor buddy ?'s

so i searched through all the threads, but i'm a little slow. it's monday and all.

got my anchor buddy. got a anchor kit with chain, rope, anchor

at the very least i want to anchor just off shore, best case come up with something for the houseboat, but it's an i/o so the stern setup won't work. what i'm wondering is, can't i still do the house boat deal by tying it up in reverse to all the inboard setups and climb in to the bow instead of the swim step? (careful of course).

more importantly, are the slalom buoy large enough to work for a buoy setup? and then lastly, what else do i need? i've got (2) 50' lines (not including anchor line). where's a good place to get galvy quick clips?

yeah i read that thread

1. are the slalom buoy's okay to use? big enough, etc? lare enough holes for clips?

2. the anchor buddy connects to the anchor chain right? not directly to the anchor. then what?
i'm really not dumb, and sure i'm probably making this too hard. i get the simple shore use setup, but i need help understanding what all i need for the buoy setup and how it connects.

i guess what's confusing me is what does that line that runs from the stern to the bouy used for?

Bruce, funny you ask. I just got done setting mine up this weekend and it works perfectly so far. I've got a switchblade on my boat, so I've got to run the bow closer to shore and get off that way. what i did is drop anchor about 30 feet off shore with the anchor buddy attached to the anchor(bucket of cement) on the hook of the anchor buddy, I attached a slalom buoy(tight fit, but sled it onto the hook) and I hook this to the back end of the boat. once hooked up I've got 2 options. I pounded a post on shore which i tied a 50 foot rope to. the other end of the rope has a caribener type hook on it(slid another slalom buoy onto this hook as well) option one is have somebody throw the ball/hook to you while standing on the bow, hook into the bow hook and they pull you in and you step off. option 2 is you drive the boat to shore(cut engine about 1/2 way between anchor and shore going slow and you step out and have the rope/ball sitting on shore and you hook it up yourself. there is actually about 5-10 seconds that you have to hook it up, it doesn't snap right back. sorry for the book, but it beat buying a 500 dollar canoe and having to paddle out to the boat. let me know if you have any other questions.

okay, i'm headed to bworld for a couple buoys. do i need anything else? would a couple small chain locks make it easier to connect everything up? lastly, anybody know if that 50ft nylon rope from home depot will sink?
