I'm hoping that some people on here can shed some light onto a few things for me. I've been shopping around for a boat under the 10k mark (cdn $) (1st boat)and i'm having a hard time figuring out if certain boats would be a good fit for what I like to do. The boat would be used for mostly wakeboarding & the occasional tube. Most of the wakeboarding would be intermediate level at best, no need for a massive wake or anything. Up until now i've ridden behind a buddies 92ish i/o maxum and just want something that will perform better than that. I'll just throw up a few craigslist listing that i've been looking at and maybe you guys can give me your thoughts/recommendations.

Thanks in advance
Dan

Man that's a tough one. The guy with the sanger is ready to deal, but the prostar looks like the cleanest of all of em and it's a lot cheaper than the sanger. I'm thinking if it were my dollar, I'd ask to demo the prostar and sanger and check em out real good. If either worked out, put an extended pylon or tower on it and keep up w/ maintenance. That's just me tho, good luck man.

Dan,

Seeing that you're from the Washington area, I have to suggest the Prostar. It's the best all around boat for boating up here. The Boomerang is too light a boat for the Seattle area. The Sanger is a great boat but if go take a look at the Prostar first. Not too crazy about the boat in Bremerton and I'm not really familiar with the make of it either! Good luck!

The boat in Bremerton is an old Centurion.

Just bought my first boat 3 weeks ago. Man I'd go for the 89' ProStar too. I was very close to closing on one exactly like that, but chose to go with a v-drive instead. Anyhow, for the money and the reputation you can't beat it. When you drive it try to get a buddy to come with you and check for everything you can think of. Also give it hell and listen for the boat cutting out, etc. If possible ask the guy to let you take it to a boat shop. It's a 100 - 150$ well spent, but you gotta make an appointment first as they are busy this time of year.

thanks for all the help guys, I'll definatly check out both the prostar & the sanger, only advantage is that the sanger is local( im in vancouver b.c.). So the prostar would cost me around 7,750 cdn plus importing and I could probably pick up the sanger for 8,000 cdn.

This is where I got my boat from. I live in Abbotsford and this guy is just before Chilliwack.

The sanger looks like it is listed in Canada so it's price is closer to the prostar than it looks. That prostar is built like a tank. With a 351 and an all fiberglass stringers and floors it is probably the best built. The Sanger is a little bit bigger boat and has a deeper V. It should be able to throw a better wakeboard wake with not too much extra weight. These are well made boats as well.

Those are the only 2 I would consider and I would lean towards the Sanger personally and I am a MasterCraft guy.

Some are over 10K but not more then 15K. I know you would like to stay under but if you plan on keeping it for a while a few extra thousand may be worth it.

Have a look at this one:

The open bow is nice, and there is quite a bit more interior space than the other boats you listed. You can get a decent wake out of this boat with some ballast when you're ready.

Its a little high for your price range, but I owned this boat for 3 seasons before I sold it to the guy who is selling it now. You'd be hard pressed to find a cleaner '88; when I owned it, it was mint, and it looks like the current owner kept it up.

This boat just came up, it's either this or the sanger. Any thoughts?

I would jump on that Sunsetter. Just chekc the stringers and floor to make sure they are solid. That boat has wood stringers and floor I believe. If those are solid you will love having an open bow boat that has a little more freeboard.
