how to clean vest?

My vest smells God awful. How do you guys clean your vest? can you put them in the washer? My vest is neoprene

i just put mine in a bucket with laundry detergent and some water and scrub it, then rinse and let it sit in the sun

Thats from letting it dry in a closed place (such as your board bag) I usually was mine with soap once a month or so, but everytime i use it I rinse it with fresh water and put it in a Plastic hanger and let it dry there

sorry, when I said there, I meant there in the shower where I also rinse it.
