Went up to the Portland boat show last weekend, I expected it to be a little slow, but it was really dead compared to years past. Snapped a few pic's

I do not understand why dealers are continuing to go to boat shows. They were dying prior to this "economic slump". Take the money spent on boat shows, and do some creative demo days with board companies, riders, cookouts, etc.. Boat shows are dead.

Down here the LA Show has been slowing for three years...at least. Why would a customer drive to downtown LA, pay $20 to park, pay to get in, and pay a ridiculous amount for food when they could go to the dealership and get the same deal while on the water perhaps riding behind it with a pro? If you say the companies are offering incentives for boat show purchases....why? Take the dollars spent on those incentives and give them to the dealer to throw demo days without paying thousands for booth space.. Then give the same incentives while saving on the booth.

We do shows cause it saves on advertising by advertising one event split by the number of the dealers there. Better ads can be done with more exposure. And we may not sell a boat at the show but all year long we will have people comin in sayin i saw this boat at the show, im ready to buy it now. We cant afford to NOT go to our show. We could not put on the demos and stuff and pay for the amount of advertising that we get from goin to the show.
