I was in an 1998 Sanger DXII and Bow Eye wont tighten up? Does anyone have any experiance with this? How is the bow eye monted under the deck

On my DLX it had the nuts on the outside that tightened back against the hull. And inside there were nuts over a piece of metal that spanned the u bolt. It was easy with the open bow to access. Your gonna have to climb up in there.

Not sure in 98, but some of the 93-96 DX II's had a plywood backer behind the bow eye the was prone to getting soft.

Gonna have to crawl in there and check it out, unfortunately.

Sanger wood can get soft??

On both my 93 and my 96 the wood got pretty "crushed" by the washers and nuts from the bow eyes. I should have been more clear...I didn't mean to imply rotted. I think I had issues due to the fact that lifted the boat on a sling thru the bow eye quite often on both those boats, and that put an unusually high load against that backer piece of wood.
