I am looking at buying a boat and am down to a 2004 x2 vs. a 2003 23LSV. Right now the only thing making me lean towards the Mastercraft is the wake b/c the LSV is bigger and more comfortable. I haven't had a chance to ride behind the BU yet and wanted to get other people's impressions. How is the wake on the BU? I know it has the diamond hull so I will probably need more than just the stock wake, but assuming stock wake, how is it as compared to the stock KGB ballast on the X2. Thanks for any input in advance.

Get an 04 LSV if you can. I have one and it throws a nice clean wake.

What are you using the boat for? If you are going to spend your whole time riding, then the X2 would be a good choice. However, the LSV, is a very highly respected wake. ... I've never ridden behind one, but that's the story. The X2 is a small boat. It gets cramped with more than 5 people on the boat. If you start adding gear, then 5 is the max. The X2 has a good stock wake, but it is better with extra ballast. I'm thinking the LSV will be the same way.

I will spend some time riding and some time w/ the kids and friends. We usually don't have too much gear so that is less of a concern. We will probably average about 4- 5 adults and 2-4 toddlers in the boat.

'03 is good too..... I always dug that boat. I do like the '04 wake, but the '03 will be big and clean if you get the weight right. Those wakes are wide, though. Just something to look out for. May take some getting used to if you regularly ride a SAN, X1 or Sanger.

Rode an 03 quite a bit, liked it just fine.

Not as good as the '04. The hull was redesigned in '04, and the '05 and later VLX, and the '07 VTX are based on the same hull shape. (different lengths) Can't go too far wrong with a Malibu though!

A friend of mine has an '04 LSV, and I haven't been all that impressed with the wake. In his defense, his wedge has been broken for the last 6 months, and he is only running stock ballast.

We have an 04LSV, with the wedge the wake is great for surfing or boarding.
