So I pick my daughter (9) up from school and we run to our business real quick to drop off a few things then we head home. I take my "detour" route home which passes by the lake...

Jadyn (daughter): Dad, why do you always take the long way home?

Me: I just like to drive by the lake.

Jadyn: Why?

Me: It's a pretty drive.

A few moments pass as I drive around the corner. Lake is now in sight.

Me: Wow!

Jadyn: Why'd you say "Wow"

Me: The lake is unreal right now.

Jadyn: You mean it's like butta.

Ah...I guess you had to be there. It was really funny though

I actually laughed out loud at that one. REALLY those moments are amazing in our family. We have an 8,6,4,2 year olds. And those are some of my favorite time, when they are so innocent and say stuff like that.

Not to hijack the thread but my little 4 year old, (when she was almost 3) got into trouble and I made her promise not to do whatever it was again. So I said..."Addison you can't do that"

She said "ok daddy"

I said "you promise?"

Her "yuppers"

I said "ok shake on it"

I reached out my hand and instead of grabbing it and shaking hands like we made a promise she instead put her hand on her hips and started shaking her hips back and forth like she was shaking...saying "ok daddy" the whole time

I busted out laughing, and from then on anytime we make a promise in our family we have to "shake" on it. So even if my wife and I make promises we have to "shake" it is still hilarous. Love those little moments.
