This is a fad in the sport compact car scene, and I thought it might look cool on my mirror.
I started with a Cipa Extreme mirror, and covered it with black vinyl. This way I can peel all the stickers off in one shot if I want:
Vinyl wrapped and ready. I got the stickers from these books:
The start:
More progress:
Ready for some clear coat.
Cleared:
After I put 3 or 4 coats of clear on I ran a strip of black vinyl along the edge as a sort of seal, and sprayed another couple of coats of clear.
Overall I think it looks sweet, adds some color to the boring mirror.
Some will love it, some will hate it.
Finished and mounted:

Thanks guys!
The stickers aren't anything branded actually, they are just like cartoons and graffiti-ish. That would be sweet though, I'm definitely going to start collecting wake stickers.
I'm thinking I might do my tower speakers or part of the cans or something else to tie it in. We'll see.

I don't know what Ian used but my company makes these sealers for ceramics that might work.

Too funny. I remember "stickerbombing" a PeeChee back in high school. Never even thought about doing it on a boat. Seems like the stickers might fade after some time in the sun.
Frankly I think the idea of applying just the vinyl to the mirror is a good one. Better yet, vinyl with a custom graphic that works with the boat's color scheme!

Love it... Not as much when you stuck it on the boat for some reason. Maybe when the boat is uncovered itll flow better. I dig it though.

My iPhone case:
I just used some Krylon "double coverage" clear coat from home depot. It's super thick, and dries really fast. Seems to work really well.
I'm definitely glad I got the SpeakerSox for the mirror to protect it from the sun.

I think it looks great. At the same time I would only do it if the boat had a wrap of some sort. I think it would stand out to much on a plain boat. NICE JOB though.

Thought this was going to be a tacky idea until the picture where its ready for the clear coat and then the quality workmanship made it look good. It creates a cool contrast but I definitely wouldn't do anything else on the boat to match it.

I just used some left over bulk from some stickers I had cut by a friend. Same material they use with a vinyl plotter.
