I have one amp that is going to connect directly to my battery. Can the 12 gauge positive cable coming off the amp go directly into the fuse and then have a 4 gauge go to the battery? Or do I need to have the 12 gauge cable off the amp go into a distributor, out with the 4 gauge to the fuse? I hope I'm wording my question correctly....

I run 0/1 gauge to a distribution fuse block and then 4 gauge out to all my amps but you can just run a single inline fuse straight from the battery to the amp. Just make sure what the amp manufacture recommends for wire size and you should be go to go. Place the fuse within a foot of the battery connection.
