Just wondering how much weight you can add to a 2000 sunsetter vlx. I know they are the same boats as a wakesetter just no ballast. Looking to buy one and I am wondering what the limits are.

They aren't the same as Wakesetters, the Sunsetter VLX's were mostly made on the diamond hull. The Wakesetters were mostly made on the wake hull. The diamond hull needs more weight to produce the same or less sized wake as a wake hull.

If you want to board and ski get a Sunsetter VLX if you wanna board and surf you NEED to get the Wakesetter VLX. Also, watch out for "fakesetters" they are Sunsetter VLX's with ballast, Wakesetter graphics and towers. They will look the same but will NOT be good for boarding!

the spec sheet with dimensions said it the sv23 wake hull for that year. I found that on malibucrew.com just can't find how much stock ballast they where putting in them so I could go from there.

i have a 2000 sunsetter vlx and it is a wake hull the sv23 one. i run the 750's in the rear and 350 in the ski locker and another 4 to 500 in the bow. it gets the job done. but putting that much in the boat you need to get a different prop. but here is the hull specs.

I run 400 in bow, 400 in ski locker, and 2 600's in the back. I usually don't fill the back ones up 100%, the wake is great.

ehhhhh, wrong.

The ONLY year the Sunsetter VLX had the diamond hull was 2001.

96-2000 = wake hull. Which are the same hulls that were on the Wakesetter VLX's until 2004 and are now the V-ride hull.

I had a 98 sunsetter vlx.....we had an integrated bow sac in the bow, 2 fatbuddies in the walkway, twin air mattress in the ski locker, and 750's on each side of the engine...totaling over 3000 lbs plus some lead. It took a bit to plane and ate some gas but was a great wake.

I run Fly High 750's on each side of the motor, a rear seat sac in the locker, and another 750 that either goes in the walkway (boarding) or along the port side (surfing). The wake is great, but with everything full it can get scary to drive. With an Acme 537 prop, you will have no problems planing out either.

will you guys stop telling people if they want to ski they need the diamond hull. If you want to ski and have people that are running a course or very serious skier you might want to consider the diamond hull. If you have the casual weekend wally out who carves or just lingers behind the boat or even charges somewhat aggressive at the wake, stay with the wake hull.
