Which Program??????????

I like to video wakeboarding sessions but hate to just view raw footage. I have an Optura 20 MiniDV. Windows editor sux a$$ (thanks Bill Gates). Is the MAC iMOVIE good??? (I do have both platforms available) I would prefer to use a program on the MAC (well lets face it they are better). I have the ability to buy programs at an academic discount so throw me some ideas for a good program for editing non-professional videos from amature wakeboarding videos.

pc = adobe premiere pro 1.5
effects (pc) = adobe after effects pro 6.5
effects (pc) = red giant magic bullet

Just to let you know that after effects is also for mac and only $400 for professional and motion 2 just came out as well. Final cut pro 5 package just came out as well for only $700 if your a student.......sorry but to just let you know Mac is better for this type of stuff, there's no doubt about it.
