I've been looking at renting a houseboat for a trip to Lake Powell but they seem really expensive. The cheapest I found was 1700/wk offseason for an old, small one.
I found a few that you can purchase outright for about 18K (it's also old and fairly small). Since I recently moved to Utah and I plan on going to Powell more often, I'm thinking it might be worth it to buy one outright and then rent it out (around 1000/week or something) when I'm not using it myself. Any thoughts? Are there cheaper places to rent them? Anyone have a fractional ownership -- do they work out well?
Anyone own one and rent it out?
