we were all out wakeboarding the otherday and everything was going well untill the journey home, the check engine light came on and started firing on only four cylinders. We checked for fuel pressure (as i had a pump go down on me before) it was ok. we board in the sea here in the UK and we decided to limp home and fault find in the harbour, When I was limping home on 4 cylinders every now and then the engine would fire on all 8 for a couple revs and then the fault would come back, which to me an electronic engineer would sugest a intermitant joint. when back in the harbour i unpluged each injector one at a time to find out which cylinders the engine was firing on, and it was found all the red and green wired injectors were doing nothing. I made a led test lamp and connected it to one of the blue wired injectors and it flashed brightly but on the green wired injectors it was very dull, I tested the impedance of the injectors to make sure one of them was not shorted but they were all ~12ohms. I then unplugged ecu plugs j1 and j2 and injected 12v to j2-19 and 0v to j1-11 (to the loom not the ECU) and the four injectors clunked (with fuel rail depresurised) to test the wiring for a rougue connection. all looked OK. does it look like i need a new $1200 MEFI ? has anyone had a problem like this?
