I have been there before, but everyones injury is different. These days I am doing better, but had to tone down my wakeboarding. Healing my back took close to a year, and it still bothers me today. You are going to have to make some life changes. Your job is going to be effected by it too. No longer can you just bend over to pick something up, or reach out with a heavy object in your hands. Learn to lift properly, always protecting your back and never lift something heavy on your own. The most important thing for you right now is to see a physical therapist. Even if you are in excellant physical shape they will teach how to put your disk back into place should it slip again, and also how to make sure you stay limber. The muscles in your legs play a significant roll in your back, and those are the things a good PT will teach you to keep stretched out, along with your ab excercises of course. This is probably not what you wanted to hear, but you can keep doing activities, just keep them within reason and do you PT.
