Well, I gave it the 200 lb. test to see if carbon fiber was the real deal! :-) Actually, I was trying to get some good pics of the interior, but the makers of the tower had assured me that it would be no problem to sit on the tower. However, it was definitely sketchy because I had this vision of how gnarly that would be if that thing actually collapsed and put me and my camera down quick!

That is one of the coolest interior photos I've ever seen. Good one Dave!

That's the hole for the navigation light. They haven't installed it yet. I guess they didn't need it for the catalog shoot. :-)

Kevin, you're welcome to sit up there and take pics, but there is no seatbelt, so you'll have to bring your own camera. I'm also guessing that the black surface is going to be hot as hell on a sunny day.

Craig, here is a look at the cupholders in the open position...

Quick question about the tower. I've heard some people say that carbon fiber will shrink in the heat. I can't imagine that malibu would not address an issue like this before using the material, that being said is there anything to the claim that the tower will shrink?

I'm not physics major, but I think things usually expand when they get hot and shrink when they get cold. Either way, I've used this tower in 118-degree whether and there was no bloating of the tower that could tell.

That would actually be kind of cool if it did. It would be the Incredible Hulk of towers! :-)

Apparently you're not a chemistry major either...

Sorry Dave... couldn't resist...

i just had the pleasure of going out on an 06 malibu last night and was super impressed! the automated wedge is pretty sweet and i'm totally sold on their interior, the seating arrangement is incredible! me likey!

I mostly just run the stock ballast (1,250 lbs.), 5 or 6 people and the Wedge and it's great. If you've got some crazy serious rider that really wants the nuts, just throw in a couple hundred more on each side of the engine and another 400 up front.

Only the link in the article is broke. The one in the header works fine.
