I have an 07 X2 and the wake size ballasted up with stock ballast seems good but the wake is so steep it is curling at 22.5 mph. Is there any weighting suggestions to get a smoother transition on this boat? Any help would be appreciated. Also does anyone else seem to think that you have to ride on a fairly short rope (50-55') to get a clean wake?

Load up the bow and the walk way. Putting weight up front will give you a better transition. You should be able to go back to 65' or 70' easy. Try a couple hundred lbs. in the bow. You will be surprised.

Also, speed up a little to see if that helps.

Something is wrong if your wake is curling over at 22.5. I ride at 23.8 with stock ballast at wither 70 or 75 depending on if I'm trying something new and I usually ride with about 2,000 lbs and 24.6 at 75. Adding weight to the front helps but at 22.5 you should be able to ride at least 65 and have a clean wake.

I usually add another 500 on each side of the motor and then a 660 in the walkway.....so an additional #1600 or so.

This suggestion is going to sound crazy but give it a try......ride at 80 around 25mph. The wake at that point is so sweet I can't even describe it.

For reference....on my old X1 with 2200# of ballast I'd ride at 70' at 24.2mph.

At 80' at that speed you can charge the wake all you want and you'll just end up on the downramp on the opposite wake. My whole crew now rides this way despite the fact NONE of us typically ride at 80 on any other boat.
