I have been going there my whole life and lived on a houseboat and worked at the marina for a summer. I talked to friends who have a houseboat there last night and like it said everyone will have to be out Dec. 1 but the water will be to low at that point to get any boats out.

What I know on the story is there is a group of boat owners referred to as LOBO who are not happy with the facilities as they are and have voiced that enough to get the states attention. In order for anyone to get the marina contract they will have to build a completely new marina at a cost of 24 mil. The project will be phased and in order to get any boats back on the water, phase 1 will have to be completed which will take 1 year. The whole project is supposed to take 4 years. So the boats will have to be off the lake for 1-4 years. Things have become very political up there. It used to be such a great place!!

we had a houseboat up there and sold it last year. We saw the low water and the writing on the wall. It's unfortunate that this has happened. If a new concessioner comes if to take over and can come to an agreement with the current concessioner to buy the existing facilities then things may pan out. The problem is the lake is at 737 ft and dropping about 1 ft per day and the lowest ramp is 690 ft. They were supposed to extend that last fall to 650 ft. so you have only so much time to get the boats off the water and they are going to be stuck. I talked to the guy who runs Limesaddle Marina a couple of years ago and he wanted Bidwell then but the owners were not interested in selling. I hope it all works out. I'd love to have a boat up there again someday

I was under the impression that no matter what, they were required to build a new marina and thats why the current owner was doing this.

Sad thing is what are the boats worth without the slip/spot at the lake? I feel sorry for those people. I thought about buying a weekend houseboat a few years ago, but bought an RV instead.

Guess it'd be a wash, my rv sits, soking up a monthly RV storage space. It's worth nothing in the current gas market. The lessen in the toy market, rent it. It likely be cheaper if you aren't gonna live on the thing.

This sucks if it happens, but what do you do with Houseboats that can only be moved by big rigs and where do you put them once they are out of the water. I see a lot of red tape and nothing happening anytime soon.
