I live in ohio so the snow here is always man made and rock hard. I want to learn to do an invert (I feel based on past experience on the wakeboard and trampoline that a front flip would be easiest for me). I was fortunate enough to practice on a soft pile of snow from a snowblower earlier this year and got 3/4 of the rotation. I am looking for suggestions on how to land this trick without killing myself. Should I go for it on the big jumps right away or should I practice on smaller ones? Any input would be appreciated.

What kind of frontflip are you trying to do? A nollie frontflip cartwheel style or off your toes like a toeside frontroll?

cartwheel style. When I was practicing i was throwing my head down to my leading knee and the last thing to leave the ground was the tip of my board.

Well the most important thing to doing this trick is loading the pop. approach the jump with your weight on the tail of your board and when you get to the lip of the jump, pop hard off your nose and put your ear to your leading shoulder. this will make the rotation, but you have to commit to it. it can be done off of rollers if done correctly, but a small to medium sized jump will do just fine for trying them. if you can, try it on a powder day when the landings are soft

Hey so I took the frontflip to the real jumps today. I landed one but it was not very clean. Every time I flip I start to rotate a backside 180. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Why question it.... Just keep rotating. That'd be sick.

sounds like a backside rodeo not a front flip...

I see a lot of guys doing those on the flat part of the tables into the landings when its a slow snow day (and they cannot get enough speed to clear the jump). I would hang in the park and when you see someone do it, track them down and see if they can offer any tips.

In the four years boarding at my park I have only ever seen one other boarder do a flip. I am unfortunatly on my own :-( I did think about going for the full 180 but as it stands now I am closer to just a flip than a flip 180. With no wake handle to pull me off my axis of rotation I cant for the life of me figure out what my problem is.
