The kicker's easy. Just hit it hard and stand tall coming off. Getting air off the water is a little trickier. To launch off the water you need to edge in progressively and then J hook the board away from the cable. The board will dig into the water, the line tension will sharply increase, then the water will throw throw board up into the air behind you. Of course you will need to know what kind of trick you are going to throw. I.E. backroll or raley. For the raley, look up, let your body extend, then pull it back in. For the backroll, look over your leading shoulder, and concentrate on a STRONG grip. The cable tension on the roll will yank the handle out of your trailing hand if you don't hold on tight. The key point is that you don't jump. If you try to jump it will mess everything up. The edge and hook will cause the water to grab the board and throw it in the air. There is no halfway. You can't just get a little air, because the invert will be forced by the action of the water against the board. If you try to just get a little air then you will end up face planting.
