I want to give the carpet a good clean before the beginning of the new season. I always vacuum it but has anyone pressure washed their carpet first and then shop vac it? I was also thinking about renting a steam cleaner. Which do you think would work better?
I just finished pressure washing mine. I left the boat out in the sun for a day to dry before putting it back in the garage. Steam would probably not be a good idea. A steam cleaner will cut through asphalt like butter. I'm sure it wouldn't be good for the carpet or adhesive holding it down. Adam's method sounds good.
I pressure washed mine Sunday and left it out to dry like Jman. It looks good. One of the benefits was that I could spray in the ski locker where I wouldn't be able to vacuum. I'll probably still rent one of those carpet cleaners a little later though.
add a little bit o' fabric softener to the water bucket and scrub with a soft bristle brush (push broom), pressure wash with the fan setting (instead of the hole blasting setting) and then shop vac/sun dry... my 04 MC looks good as new after it.
