I am a beginner/intermediate and am wondering if an Absolute Platinum would work for me. Would it be easier to learn tricks on a beginner board? Even easier to wakeboard period on a more forgiving board?

Louis: The Absolute IS a very forgiving board. The only part of the board that is 'questionably' tougher for beginners is the high rocker line. I think it's a great board for all levels. I've put many beginners on it.

I have had a couple beginners on mine also, and they did great. After riding my '01 Belmont, even they noticed a good difference between the two. They really liked the feel of the Absolute. A couple of these riders have only been out 3 or 4 times.

Ditto what everyone said!

However, I did find a difference in stability depending on what size fins are on the board. (Just an FYI)

I concur, I go out with my schools wakeboard club. A lot of the girls need a board & usually let them ride my Absolute. They love it, molded fins are the way to go when it comes to beginner/intermediates. The only thing I'd add is that you don't need to get the Platinum, it will not benefit your riding. If you want to throw down the extra $ go for it, but it will not be that important.

I am an intermediate rider(backrolls, tantrums, 360's, etc) and I went from an 02 Belmont 136 to the 04 Abs. Plt. 141. It took me a few days to get the pop dialed in, but now that I am used to it I really like it. I deffinately reccommend it.
