i've pretty much got the ol' hs backroll, and want to get a ts invert nailed.

I think the TS backroll is easier. A lot of the same rules apply from your HS backroll. Take a short approach, edge hard all the way up the wake keeping the line tight. Stand tall and throw your head back.

jrod, with the hs backroll i've been told to ride in with my hips forward and legs resonably straight so that the wake does all the work. is this the same for the ts backroll??

hips forward so your weight is evenly distributed across the board. I can't say you should approach with your legs straight. You want to come in with your knees bent so you can stand tall and push off of the wake. Focus on taking it as high as possible.

I've only just landed my first invert a few days ago (scarecrow) After trying a few frontrolls, I found the crow to be most natural to me.
I'm sure it's all personal preference though.
Now I've got to get my backroll!

eric, thats an odd first invert, but congrats. i went the normal way of learning the backroll first, and now want to get some ts to my collection

I did the t/s front roll first. It is a trip flip similar to the tantrum.
