Replacing the speakers in my 98 Sunsetter LX, and I ran into a few problems. The front speakers are too close to the windshield, so I can't get any kind of screw driver to reach the back screw, and 2 of the other 3 are going to be a pain. They are mounted directly through the fiberglass dash on each side. Maybe I can drill through them from the bottom? The back speakers are mounted on the back of the side panels of the boat, and a fiberglass pillar covers them partly from the back, so we can't get to them that way, it looks like I might have to take the entire side panels off, which have a dozen bolts each. Anybody have any experience with a Malibu with this interior layout? Thanks in advance,
Ryan

I am having the same problem on my 2001 Malibu LSV front speakers. They are mounted right up by the windshield. Can they be removed from under the dash?

I feel your pain. The speaker locations are tough. You have two options.

1. Get a angle head screw drive like this one.
Upload

2. Remove the windshield. This isn't as hard as it seems. We do it all the time.

I have a 04 wakesetter. I tried taking a #2 bit like for you drill and putting on the ones under windshield and turning it with a wrench. That did remove the screws but I still couldn't get the speaker to clear the windshield to remove it. Maybe you guys can try that it might work for you.

You have to take the windshield out.

How do you take off the windshield?

you can get the dash speakers out w/out taking the windshield off. You need a 90 degree screw driver. (takes some time)
I don't have any experience with the side panels though.
