Does anyone have any insight on cleaning up a wake while pulling at slower speeds? My 7 year old is getting very comfortable behind the boat, but doesn't like to get pulled faster than 17 MPH. Problem is, the wake is mostly wash at 17 MPH. I'm pulling him with an 07 Mobius LSV and have tried with all ballasts empty and with just the middle one full. I'm guessing/thinking some more people weight up front, since everyone wants to sit on the back seat and watch/video him. Any thoughts?

Our "rule" is that wake condition is higher priority than seating preference. Move people to clean-up the wake! More weight up front will help, have you adjusted the wake-plate? Moving it down some will help clean at slower speeds. Then the only other option is to eliminate all ballast. Most kids want the bigger wake from the ballast and are willing to speed-up if that is the only option.
One other factor is line length, pull in to where the wake is clean.

Try filling up the front ballast and running the wakeplate down or 1/4 up. Then start working on speed. Use the perfect pass and pull him at 17.25 then move up to 17.5, etc... What ever he starts at pull him 1/4 - 1/2 mph faster the next pull. Over time he won't even know, and just keep telling him your running 17mph.

I have had this prob as well. I tend to keep the wedge up and keep the front ballast in and it is all good. I pull my 9 y/o daughter at 17.5 and my 6 y/o son at 16. Everything is good at those speeds. The more weight in the rear the washier it will be!
