My buddy is 5'7", 145 lbs and isn't a beginner. he throws big backrolls and 180's but nothign too major. Trying to figure out which board he should get. He rode the 139 3DS and loved it, but he was told he should get the 135 though. Wondering what kind of difference you think he would experience between the two boards. He's not a big guy so i guess he could ride either, but trying to figure out which would be the best fit and what the difference would make for him. Any input would be great! thanks!

Also, has anybody tried both the 3DS and the Murray? Wondering what kind of differences you may have noticed. Thanks!

I'm thinking he'll like the 135 better, it'll ride better for him. BUT, he's right on the border line where he can really ride either!

always get the bigger board unless you have a distinct liking to small boards.

I ride the 135 and am 5'8" 165 lbs. so I don't think the 135 would be too big for him. I have riden up to a 141 because of an ACL tear but am back down to a 135 and love it. Either way I think you would be fine.

To elaborate on my post. I along with many people would suggest the 135 3DS if I just heard his dimentions (The 3ds does ride big) but above any recomendations and what not comes personal preferance. If he rode the 139 and loved it, get the 139.
I highly agree with Thane, ride a big a board as possible that you can still control.

Thanks for the input! If he gets a bigger board, what are the specific advantages over the small board? I'm not enough of a board techy...Thanks so much for the input guys!}

Anybody else? How about distinct differences between 3ds and murray?

A bigger board should give you bigger pop and more stable landings.

THE 35 IS CLOSER TO A 39, AND THE 39 IS CLOSER TO A 42. TRY MEASURING THEM OR STANDING THEM NEXT TO OTHER BOARDS ANDS YOU WILL SEE THAT THE NUMBERS ARE NOT ACCURATE. BOARD COMPANIES DO THIS TO APPEAL TO PEOPLE THAT BUY BOARDS BASED ON NUMBERS. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. GOOD LUCK!

the edge to edge is 139 on the 139, but the tip to tip is around 142. not sure if this is a good thing, but i loved the 3ds except two things 1. it was too grippy so tricky to break loose, 2. for some reason i like square ended boards for cutting etc (who knows why)
