I ran across this old post when I was searching for ways to help with my problem... Nearly everytime I wakeboard, I end up getting sick. Anyone else having this problem? Maybe this dirty Texas water.

I always stored lake water in my sinus cavity till that night and the following day. It would just drip out at random. Now every time I go I just take more sinus relief medicine then recommended.

I have been wrestling with this problem for years. I would get stuffed up after the Friday night ride and it wouldn't clear up until about wednesday. I tried everything, allergy medicines, nasal sprays, even this weird sinus rinse that they teach in yoga, but I finally found the best way to fix it for me. I found a kayaking nose plug and wear that while riding. It has a little lanyard taht I attach to the zipper on my vest so when it pops off it doesn't get lost. Even on the really bad falls when it comes off it tends to take the brunt of the water when it comes off instead of getting blasted into my sinuses. I haven't had any problems since I started using it and I am actually finally starting to get my sense of smell back!

Last week at the lake I got some water up my nose or in my ear and it started a ear and or sinus infection. Your sinus's can drain back into your ear and cause a ear infection so you need to treet both at the same time. This is what happend to me last year.

I go to the doctor for a ear ake. He gives me ear drop's that treet a outer ear infection. 1 week later im not fixed I go back.
He gives me antiboics for a inner ear infection
I take them for a week and im not fixed I go back. He sends me to a specialist. He says I have a sinus infection that is causeing a drip back and down into my ear causeing a inner ear infection and making it sore so it has symptoms of a outer ear infection. This all took 3-5 weeks to figure out and get fixed. So now I have the same thing again I have spray for my nose and sinus and ear drops and antibotcs all at the same time going at this thing full force LOL. Yes I believe it has somthing to do with the warmer water later in the season because it happend tom me at the exact same time last year when the water was or is warm.

Im not into wearing nose or ear plug's and my doctor said I can get a sinus flush kit and ear drop's to be pro active If I feel like i get soem water up there.

I get bad sinus problems the next day after I wakeboard. I don't get sick, I just have a lot of congestion afterwards.

I use to get severe sinus infections and ear infections. Now I take a prescription sniff spray to prevent sinus infections and I also take 10mg of loratadine (generic and cheaper Claratin)in the am and pm of the days I ride just to have something extra in my system.
