Okay guys, I need your insight. I have an offer on this 00 Air Nautique and want to have it checked out. But being my first inboard, what do I ask for to have looked at?

-Maint records from previous years?
-Dealer records of service over the years?
-Any major damage?
-Check the gelcoat?
-Check all the fluids, and pay attention to the color of said fluids. If you do buy, I would change all the fluids and start fresh with them. I don't care what the seller says, I would want a clean slate.
-If you can drive it, pay attention for any odd vibrations, shakes, etc.

Good luck with the new hunt....

Ask them to let you or have them pull it to the Nautique dealer so you can have it checked out. Demo it and load it down like your going to ride behind it.

Few other ideas to add to the stuff already mentioned. Most of the interior and exterior are pretty obvious, but pay attention to stitching on vinyl and cracks / scratches in gel coat around mounts to swim platform, tower, shaft mounts.

Check every electrical option. This is the area where boats often need the most TLC. The boat should steer pretty easy. Check all the hatch pistons. Also check behind the seats and engine bilge area for grime - chances are if these hidden areas are clean, I have greater faith in the care and maintenance.
