So I've just gotten back into wakeboarding after a 4 year hiatus. This weekend, my hands were the first thing to give out on me. I workout and run regularly so nothing else really ached. How awful to have to end a run because you can't hold on anymore! So what I really is a decent handle. Right now I have umm...whatever came in our boat aka an old ski handle. What's comfy and won't cost me a week's worth of wages?? Thanks in advance -- oh and I'm new, so hi!

I like the Hardline Spyder or Waffle. Not too big of a grip and there are some killer online deals for Hardline handles.

I've been using the Ronix North all season and love it. It feels just like the Proline LG, but has a little more cush underneath the cover. It's also about half the price of the LG. I've been using mine all summer and its held up great.

Chad, youre going to get recommendations on every end of the spectrum. Hopefully you have a pro shop nearby that you can stop in to get a better feel for them. I carry four different types of handles on my boat, plus other handles that friends bring with them. My personal favorite is the Helium.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I was actually looking at the Ronix line online after hearing all of the hoopla surrounding this "new" company. Ambush (aka BuyWake.com) is not too far from where I go to school so I think I'm going to take a trip up there on Thursday and possibly pick up a wakeskate as well . Keep 'em comin if you have more opinions!

Sinko I dare to disagree. The ameoba feels nice in the shop and on the boat, but once you start riding hard with it it tears up you hands real nice, not to mention tearing itself up. They also put that nice hard Straighline logo right on the middle of the handle. I love the ARi bridle system but the grip doesn't do it for me. My buddy has a Ronix Totem and I love it. Leather type handle that is larger in diameter and super comfy. I definately think we'll be seeing more and more companies coming out with leather-type grips in the near future.

Roddyrod, It's really hard to tell when a handle is going to feel good out on the water if you just hold it in the store...the only thing I really have to go on is recommendations since I don't have any boarding mates haha. I'm definitely going to check out the Ronix line at Ambush though -- thanks for the suggestion.

Agreed the logo on the straight line gets the award for WORST placement - until you rip it out. I've been riding the handle alot this year and haven't really had any problems with it tearing up the hands - just a suggestion. But I'm also used to riding my friends trackter grip for half the season.

the handle is not your problem...your hands are weak. When yrou at the gym in between sets carry around some 60-70 lb dumbells or just hold them for a minute or so.

Sam, I wouldn't say his hands are weak if they are getting torn up. More like he lost his callouses from not riding for 4 years. I know every spring I have to rebuild the tough spots on my hands before I can do those 30 minute sets.

I used to workout with a kid who was around your age, could bench about 300lbs, squated about 200lbs..lol, and needed straps to deadlift 185lbs..hah-ha. Try carrying around the weights...you'll be surprised.

The Proline LG is a great feeling handle, but it sinks after some riding.

Okay my first upgrade is to an Ambush-branded Straight Line. They are sold completely out of the Ronix line. I had my heart set on a Totem but this will do for now. I'll report back this weekend.

Just wanted to report in. The handle made an AMAZING difference in my riding. No blisters. Perfectly comfortable all day riding...well, until the crazies came out in their jet skis and so forth, but what can you do? Anyways, had a great day and this will really help me progress.

After the seam on your SL handle separates, replace it with a Proline LG. I used a SL Amoeba last year. The grip separated 6 times. Sometimes after only two days of riding. I've gotten replacements 3 times from SL but I gave up after it separated again at the start of this year. I switched to the Proline LG and I love it. I've used it all season -- no calluses.
