Flying on Continental in August. They have a $15 first bag fee. Someone told me that strollers are checked for free. How can I get my wakeboard bag checked in as a stroller? Any ideas?

If you can't it will run you $95 each way. I promised the lady at the check in that I will put them down every chance I get. DON'T fly continental.
I have had 2 terrible experiences with them.

Add US Air to the don't fly with a wakeboard bag. They are also charging $100 each way for any sports equipment where the bag is longer than 45 inches in any direction. Even golf clubs.

UPS ground Tennessee to Orlando is 3 days and cost $18, 2 days is $54, overnight is $133 each way. If you are heading to a competition do you want to do without your board for 3-5 days?

Southwest all the way no charge for bags. This whole ship it thing is crazy. Ship it out 3 days ahead of when you are leaving and then find a place to ship it out of when you leave and wait 3 days to get it back home. I guess if you are an occasional rider that doesn't really need your board other then for the trip it would be fine.

Ship it for sure.... You can also get insurance when shipping. No airline fee's cover if it is lost or broken. Don't check anything that you think could break.

Shipping it isn't crazy...ha

Like the dude above me said, you can insure it for any amount of money and the airlines won't do that...If you're a die hard rider you know how fragile a board is and that on an airplane anything goes...just saying

SOUTHWEST!! We always base our snowboard trips around them. Never paid one penny for luggage.

Or you can charter a private jet and sit your board bag right next to you. Now that would be nice.

HaHa Jeremy. Maybe we could borrow one of those nice luxury jets we just bought our government to fly around in.

George,

How far is it from Chattanooga to Nashville, TN? I live in North Alabama and we drove a couple of hours to Nasville. Well worth the drive and flights were way cheaper than Birmingham or Huntsville.

Ronia:

Strollers are usually gate checked for free. Just put your boards in a snowboard bag with some of your clothes and keep it under 50 lbs. Tell them its a snowboard and pay the $15 online and use a skycap if you can. Skycaps live on tips, gate agents just want to maximize revenue.

Walt, Out home to the Nashville airport is 145 miles. We fly out of Nashville some, going to Reno from there Thursday. It adds 3 hours each way to the trip compared to flying out of Chattanooga.
