Between the backroll and the mexican roll

I believe a backroll you are looking over your shoulder and a mexiroll you are all curled up. I could be wrong though.

A mexican backroll is throwing your head at your heels where the side of the board leads the roatation... so it ends up feeling more like a straight frontflip. The regular backroll has the tip of the board leading the rotation, and is more of a sideways flip.

The book explains the difference and shows both. If I remember correctly in a regular backroll you have your legs extended and in the mexican you have your legs up to your chest. There may be more differences.

You're right Ron, but a backroll is a kartwheel motion, meaning your chest is always facing the boat. The Mexi is a front flip motion

A mexican back roll is done wearing this mask, and no other way...

Backroll is a reverse cartwheel, Mexicanroll is a reverse front flip.

i'm confused. isn't a reverse front flip just a back flip? obviously the best reply to the initial post would be a video clip of both.

Can't go to revert from a mexi roll because you usually let go with your back hand to do the front flip motion. Watched a guy try all night last night, then we had to go back to the basics of a backroll. I think they're ugly, but people like them because they "seem" to go bigger. Throw everything up and over your front shoulder. It's a cartwheel pivoted on the handle.
