I second the steering cable. I tried to grease mine and it made it worse. No room for the grease in the cable. Replace it and after the long frustrating day you'll realize it was worth it when you can turn with one finger.

as everyone else stated, you need a new cable. If you are handy, you can pull it yourself and save some money. You can tye a rope to the old and pull it out and then use the rope to pull the new one through the hull. You can also tape the new to the old and pull it through. the cable will cost 120-150 (several years ago on a different boat)and will definitly fix the problem.

Call skidim.com and talk to them. I know they have a lot of steering parts and they will give you on the phone advice. I don't know if they carry parts for your boat, but I would definately try them.
