Aight...been trying to figure out my wake for the past two months. Had hell@ wash problems. Yesterday we took the trims tabs off and like magic, SWEET wake. DO NOT buy the permanent trim tabs if you only wakeboard out of your boat. If I ever want to put them on to just cruise at the lake or something I can but for wakeboarding, they totally wash out the wake.

All my buddies were super stoked. Wake is nice and even shapped with a real crisp lip. everyone was throwing smooth tricks. Was looking to sell my boat out of frustration but now I am happy with it.

now if i could just get the PP to work.

Right on, you gotta be stoked! Good wake at no expense.

Are you talking about the ones that people put on their outdrive or the transom of the boat? I have been telling people for years NOT to put them on their outdrive as they will do just the opposite of what you want, lift the stern. You want the a$$ to sink for a decent wake behind an I/O, oh dont forget the perfect pass and the right prop...same as with ANY real wakeboat but with the I/O you realy do need PP as you cant do what the computer does, period.
What is your issue with PP?

Curious if you are talking about the Hydrofoils too.

The stern tabs...there called "smart tabs". They work really well for cruising but when it comes to the wake they totally jack it up.

Anyone with a PP on their I/O...please tell me how they have theirs set up because I can NOT get mine to work to save my life. It starts off by setting in for a little bit then starts drifting then it starts surging really bad.

here is a pic of the bad wake. <img>Ridding at about 20-21 which we can do with a nice wake now. I will take some pics the next trip out.

Didnt bring my camera out last time. My 21' wellcraft with a 5.7L is set up with about 500-700lbs up front about 300-400 in locker, and about 300-400 in the rear. trim it up about 3 good hits of the trim swich and it looks really nice and everyone is getting some really good pop off it. I think the key to all I/O is have most of the weight up front.

Yea Hate...I do cuz i getz crunk wid my words!

We don't have a problem with ours (edit: Seems to be a different sort of tab that you're talking about, we have the hydrofoil on the outdrive) That wake of yours was a shocker though, good you got it sorted. The key is weight biased towards the front for sure. Have you tried turning the PP off and driving by revs? Seems to work for us. I can get a good pull with a good driver. Don't know about PP since we don't have it and haven't been out on a wakeboat with speed control installed.

Probably only worthwhile as an experiment since I guess PP is a pretty expensive thing to have sitting around doing nothing. You definitely do have to work the throttle the whole time to get a constant speed.

Ryan try running your PP in rpm mode, you dont have the "Cruise" model do you? That pic was pretty bad...to me it almost looked like the trim was down and needed to be brought up some or your REAL speed was slower then you thought. My boat likes the trim right in the middle.
Jos , all I can say is you dont know what your missing, let me put it in perspective: So many true wakeboard boats come stock with PP now it should give you an idea of how important it is. In an I/O it is even more important due to the hull shape and it being near imposssible to keep the boat barely on plane, where the wake is the sweetest on an I/O. Unless you have a processor for a brain you can not sample the water speed as fast and respond as fast as PP does, period. Yes you can stay focused and keep speed pretty well unless you get distrated and well...your in a boat out in the water with people in it and probably the stereo playing, drinking a soda, looking in the mirror.

Maybe we need to do a comparison here on WW and have a "Pro" level driver drive then let him/her drive with PP on and have a GPS onboard to record the data, see where the error is?
Dont get me wrong there are problems with PP but who jumps in mid turn and that is a simple fix of bump the throttle just after the turn is initiated and pull the throttle back as your exiting the turn.

Rob...what are you settings for your perfect pass? I have tried RPM mode but I have to adust it on the fly because at the cruising speed is a low rpm in which I can not plain out at. I would like to get the speed working so I can just hit the throttle and let it do its job.

Ryan the original settings for kdw were too low for an I/O, even with a V8. I think my paddle wheel is bad and havent checked what my settings are in so long since they were perfect for years. Id suggest just bumping the kdw, I think starting was around 200, up to like 280.
The folks at perfect pass should have a pretty good idea where both numbers should be for your size boat with a 5.7, I/O, have you emailed them at all?

I have around 800-900 in the bow, about 400 in the locker and about 400 in the rear. 4 people in the boat and one riding. Keep 2 in the rear, and one in the passenger seat. I trim up about 1/4 of the way up. thats running at about 25mph
